Power Pollen Yield 2

IMPROVING PRODUCTIVITY, SUSTAINABILITY AND PROFITABILITY OF COMMODITY CROPS

Pollination preservation expands benefits to growers

Yield Improvement

Our pollen preservation technology allows farmer and seed producers to pollinate at the ideal time

Less Risk

Controlled pollination also results in more consistent production.

More Flexibility

Our technology expands the window for planting, which means more flexibility to the impacts of weather on plant growth. Flexibility is valuable and allows farmers to get the highest value from each hectare.

Yield Squared: Pioneering Agricultural Innovation

Exclusive Technology Licence

Yield Squared holds the exclusive licence to Power Pollen Incorporated patented technology for Australia and New Zealand. This significant, multi-million dollar investment has enabled the supplementary pollination of broad acre corn fields to be developed over the last decade in the United States. The technology’s application is now expanding, with ongoing development in rice and wheat in the USA.

Research and Development Expansion

In addition to commercialising Power Pollen technology exclusively for Australia and New Zealand, Yield Squared is actively advancing supplementary pollination into new crop sectors. The company is prioritising research and development in canola and sorghum, aiming to broaden the benefits of this innovative solution.

Company Background and Leadership

Yield Squared is supported by Gowing Brothers Ltd, a publicly listed Australian family company with a history spanning more than 150 years. The business is led by General Manager Jason Scott, who brings over 30 years of experience in Australian agriculture. His expertise encompasses roles from field agronomist to national corn product manager and national silage specialist within a multinational seed company, as well as non-executive board positions within the dairy industry. This depth of experience, positions Yield Squared for continued growth, driven by business development and focused research initiatives.

Collaborative Research Efforts

Yield Squared is currently fostering a working relationship with the AgriBio department at Latrobe University in Melbourne. This collaboration is focused on conducting further research into canola and sorghum, with the intention to expand into additional crops in the near future.

Our Mission

IMPROVING PRODUCTIVITY, SUSTAINABILITY AND PROFITABILITY OF COMMODITY CROPS

Research & Development

Following the demonstrated success of synchronous pollination in corn, we are now advancing research efforts to expand this technology into additional crop types, including canola and sorghum. Previous studies in corn ethanol production have shown that synchronous pollination can enhance kernel oil concentration by up to 67%. This presents a significant opportunity to evaluate its potential impact on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production from Australian canola.
This technology can also be used to improve Sorghum production by rapidly introducing new traits into hybrids, helping farmers better handle climate variability. Since Sorghum is often cultivated in environments with limited moisture, enhancing trait introduction via pollen can play an important role in managing these stresses more effectively.

To fully unlock the potential of supplementary pollination, further research is essential, both to refine the technology and to validate its commercial viability across diverse farming systems. While early results show promising gains in yield, oil content, and operational efficiency, scaling this innovation requires deeper understanding of crop-specific responses, optimal pollen application methods, and integration with existing farm practices.
